THE .PSD SHOW ABOUT NEWS LINKS

Adobe Photoshop is now the vernacular of contemporary images. New technologies have significantly shifted photographic practice, broadening the scope of its developmental potential and vocabulary. These changes foster a space in which graphics editing software becomes the constitutive means of production for contemporary images. The .PSD Show engages this discourse in its native tongue; opening the digital image in its raw and immaterial state. As a culture whose communication is increasingly image based, we are obliged to explore such a program and see what activity occurs there -- so let's talk Shop.

The .PSD Show is a growing conversation among Photoshop users; a community of artists, photographers, retouchers and technicians; spanning the gamut from professional to amateur. The abbreviation .PSD refers to the file extension used to designate a Photoshop Document.

Each participating artist has contributed an original .PSD file specially commissioned for this project. These files are freely available for download and can be opened for use in Adobe Photoshop.

The .PSD Show is an online exhibition
organized by Joshua Citarella in 2012.
